SUMMER 2023: CLOSED
Just 10 minute's walk from the Andalo–Doss Pelà cable car station, you arrive at Malga Zambana, a small mountain hut in an enchanting location, completely immersed in nature. It originally stood a little further east and was constructed in 1950.
Mirko has been managing the hut since 2015, but his experience in Paganella mountain huts started many years before. In the summer he personally looks after the menu, cooking a limited range of dishes, but with matchless care. During the winter season Cosimo the cook reigns supreme in the kitchen. In the most authentic Trentino spirit all the dishes are prepared by hand, both summer and winter.
This very welcoming setting is warmed by an open fire and maintains its original Trentino mountain style. Here you can relish all the flavours of our region's cooking and the traditional savours of fresh local products, carefully selected to bring the best to your table. In winter the hut remains open every day until 17:00 when the ski runs close.
In summer the Malga is transformed into a genuine workshop. Mirco leads your children on a discovery journey into cheese making as it was done in times gone by, when these meadows were second home to dairy cows.
This Malga stands in an interesting location, at the intersection of two ski runs: the new Jana Granda run and the Tre-Tre Selletta run. It is easily reached with a short level walk, and from here a path departs, leading to the summit of the Paganella along the grassy ski run between dwarf pines and daisies. When passing by the Malga a tasty snack stop is obligatory!
