An old mountain farm immersed in the greenery around Lake Molveno
“A TASTY DISH”: Delicious buckwheat pappardelle pasta with venison ragù sauce for a rustic flavour from the past.
“OUR RECOMMENDATION”: Take a dive into history! Near the Baita are the remains of “Napoleonic Forts”, old military positions dating back to the early 1800s and built by the Austro-Hungarian Empire in order to counter the advance of Napoleon.
“PERFECT FOR …”: A peaceful walk in nature beside Lake Molveno.
The Baita ai Fortini di Napoleone is an old farmhouse just outside Molveno and it gets its name from the nearby military strongholds constructed by the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the beginning of the nineteenth century to stop the advance of Napoleon. It is reached with a walk of about half an hour starting from the beach at Lake Molveno and following the first section of the pleasant path around the lake.
The building is in the old mountain farmhouse style, made from local stone with balconies, flower boxes, and an old wooden tile roof, giving it a particularly rustic appearance. Silvana and Alessandro the chef will welcome you with classic local dishes prepared in traditional style. The polenta is made by the old method of slow cooking over a wood fire. A few of the tasty options that Baita Fortini di Napoleone offer their guests include beef stew, grilled cheese, marinated Alpine char fish, canederli bread dumplings, and
polenta gnocchi.
The Baita is open roughly from May to October, and over the Christmas period. We recommend contacting them directly to check the exact opening dates.
