Opened in 1930, the Rifugio Dosso Larici is the property of the local council of Fai. Since 2014 it has been managed by Piero with the help of his daughter Michela, and a trusty staff of around ten.
When you arrive you are welcomed by Lupin and Merlino, two friendly lamas happy to be photographed and petted. Inside is heated with wood burning stoves and decorated in old-fashioned Alpine style. Here Piero and Chef Marco await you with more examples of the wholesome savours of the Trentino tradition, using local products and recipes passed down through the generations.
If you want more than just a lunch, you could extend your stay at Dosso Larici to the following day because the hut also offers twenty bed spaces.
In winter the hut stays open for dinner every Monday and Thursday, when the ski runs on the Fai side of the mountain are available for fans of ski mountaineering until 21:00 hours.
The ski run of the same name passes right alongside the hut, as do the hiking paths from Fai della Paganella up to the summit. Since the Rifugio Dosso Larici is not served directly by the ski lifts, it retains the charm of a traditional mountain hut with the need to make some effort in order to enjoy its cooking and hospitality.
