Leaf peeping in Dolomiti Paganella
Monday 6 September 2021
Crisp air, panoramic viewpoints, and countless shades of autumn: from the woods of Fai della Paganella to the banks of Lago di Molveno, passing along the slopes of the Brenta Dolomites, the Dolomiti Paganella autumn leaves are a wonder to behold. But don't take our word for it! Grab your boots and camera, get into your car and head for the Altopiano della Paganella for a magical autumn weekend. And here are a few suggestions to start you off.
#1 The Parco del Respiro
If you want to immerse yourself in the colours of autumn while at the same time enjoying all the health benefits of a walk in nature, we recommend a visit to the new Fai della Paganella Parco del Respiro, the ideal location for forest bathing.
This excursion is suitable for the whole family, with a mountain stream providing the soundtrack as it gurgles through the forest. Relax on the wooden loungers and enjoy the show: the beech trees provide a spectacle of autumnal shades, from light yellow through amber to flame red. Discover the itinerary.
#2 Among the Andalo farmhouses
Did you know that Andalo was orginally divided into thirteen small hamlets? Various routes lead you to explore them, revealing the most charming corners of the village. The backdrop is the Dolomiti di Brenta, clothed for autumn and possibly with the first snow lighting up the summits.
Round off your family day with a visit to the (free!) Sarnacli Mountain Park, an educational and sensory trail on which children can discover all the secrets of the Dolomites through play!
#3 Moline and Deggia
The old track connecting San Lorenzo in Banale and Molveno passes through the old hamlets of di Moline and Deggia and is perfect in the autumn season for those in search of peace and quiet. Look out for the stone houses covered in creepers, which become an explosion of colours in autumn, and the shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Caravaggio.
#4 From Lago di Molveno to Baita Ciclamino
What could be more impressive than the colours of autumn? Autumn colours reflected in a lake! After admiring the Dolomiti di Brenta reflected in Lago di Molveno, leave the beach and follow the signs for Baita Ciclamino: you will find yourselves walking amongst the thousand colours of autumn, accompanied by the sound of running water. The return route leads you back into the old village centre of Molveno, an ideal stopping point for a hot chocolate or an aperitif.
#5 Out and about between Cavedago and Andalo
A circular route to explore the most hidden corners of our mountain plateau. A stop at the Chiesetta di S. Tommaso gives a breath-taking panorama over Valle di Non: we promise you a sea of red, orange, and gold as far as the eye can see.
