THE BENEFITS OF FOREST BATHING

Walking is good for you, but walking in a dense beech forest is really beneficial.

If, during your holiday in Trentino, you want to enjoy nature and reap its benefits, take a stroll in the Forest Bathing Park in Fai della Paganella.

The beech forest overlooks the Adige valley: stop at one of the numerous panoramic terraces, enjoy the warm sun on your skin and admire the view.

You can choose between four easy paths, depending on the time you have available: Sentiero dell’Otto, Sentiero dei Belvedere, Sentiero dei Reti and Sentiero Acqua e Faggi.

Here the air is really special: recent analyses testify to the rich presence of monoterpenes and phytoncides. These are aromatic substances and essential oils released from beech leaves and beech wood: a real, natural aromatherapy.

Walk in the woods for at least two hours. Savour the sounds, smells and sights of nature and let the forest in. Unplug from technology and slow down, enveloped by the pleasant sensation of peace and tranquillity. It is not a mere suggestion; the health benefits are real and have been proven in numerous studies. In Japan forest bathing or, as it is called there, shinrin-yoku is one of the cornerstones of preventive medicine.

SENTIERO DEI RETI

This ancient village is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Alps and represents a rare case of settlement on high ground, fortified with defensive walls. Numerous artifacts have been found here, dating back to the Middle Bronze Age and the Second Iron Age.
