ROAD BIKE
n the footsteps of cycling legends Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali, FRANCESCO MOSER and Marco Pantani
Cycle on the well-known tracks of the major races!
See the road disappear as you cycle on tracks made unforgettable by the exploits of the greatest cycling legends.
If you can cover tens of kilometres at average speeds (over 20/25 km/h), if you love cycling, then this is the activity for you.
Cycle on paved tracks, mostly roads, but also trails: dressed appropriately in cycling shorts and t-shirt, gloves and helmet as you relive past emotions.
The Giro del Brenta, one of the most famous cycling races around Trentino begins at the Altopiano della Paganella: The Giro is about 150 km long and climbs over 2,000 m in altitude.
And then? The Grande Salita Mezzolombardo-Fai della Paganella area: a narrow strip of road with slopes that are not too arduous but do require concentration and care.
Eddy Merckx in the "maglia rosa" (the leader of the race wears a pink jersey) in the 1973 Giro d'Italia, managed to take a huge lead here on these roads to go on to win with ease. The first few kilometres are in the shade of the forests, then the glade opens and the road begins to climb up the mountainside. The last few kilometres are almost vertical: the peak seems to be within reach and you face the challenge of the final stretch, just you against the mountain.
And when you get off your bike you will notice the beautiful landscape around you.
Fai is situated on a natural terrace with an incredible view of Mt. Fausior and the Paganella on either side. A doorway to the Brenta Dolomites, the only dolomia (dolomite rock) island west of the Adige River.
